Bliss Mandala CAL

Bliss Mandala CAL

Good news, I am going to organize my first CAL! I am so excited about it, and I hope you are too. In this blog you will find more information about the Bliss Mandala CAL.

This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on these links and make a purchase, I earn a commission at no additional cost to you. The inclusion of affiliate links helps support the maintenance and growth of this blog.

Update: the CAL has ended and the pattern parts are no longer available. If you wish to crochet this mandala, you can order the pattern on Etsy or Ravelry.

What is the plan?

On the 9th of June, the Bliss Mandala CAL will start. CAL is an abbreviation for Crochet Along, which means we will all be working on the same pattern! The pattern, which consists of 24 rounds, will be released in 3 parts (with 1 week between each part):

The CAL has ended, the parts are no longer available. You can find the pattern on Etsy or Ravelry.

Who can join this CAL?

Everyone is welcome to participate. Especially if you have never crocheted mandalas before or do not have a lot of experience, this is a great opportunity to strat. Since we are all working on the same pattern, there is always someone to help you if you get stuck!

Where will the CAL be hosted?

You don’t have to sign up for the CAL. You can use the hashtag #BlissMandalaCAL to show your progress and end result on Instagram.

Where can the pattern be found?

The pattern will be posted here on my blog, where it is available for free to everybody.

Do you prefer to have an add free PDF-version of the pattern? You can order a PDF version of the pattern on Ravelry.

What kind of materials do you need?
  • About 160-200 meters (174 – 218 yards) of yarn of your choice. It depends on the yarn, the hook and if you crochet tight or loose. See ‘Examples’ below.
  • Crochet hook suitable for the yarn.
  • A hoop. The size of the hoop depends on how big your crochet mandala will be, which in turn depends on the yarn and crochet hook you use.
  • Also very convenient to use: scissors, tape measure, darning needle and stitch marker.

I can’t wait and hope you will join us when the CAL starts!

Examples/inspiration

I made a few versions as inspiration:

  • 40 grams (160 meters) Hobbii Dahlia. This skein contains more yarn than you need. Therefore, you need to manually cut the yarn for the color changes. This is something you need to keep in mind if you want to work with gradient yarn.
  • Hook 2,5mm
  • 40cm hoop

Bliss Mandala CAL - mint

  • 35 grams (160 meters) Scheepjes Whirlette Mint
  • Hook 2,5mm
  • 40cm hoop

  • 17 gram (175 meter) Delfino Filo Di Scozia nr. 16.
  • Hook 1,5mm
  • 25cm hoop

  • 40 grams (186 meters) Scheepjes Whirl Caramel Core Blimey. This skein contains more yarn than you need. Therefore, you need to manually cut the yarn for the color changes. This is something you need to keep in mind if you want to work with gradient yarn.
