Bliss Mandala CAL – Part 1

Are you ready? Let’s start with the very first steps of the Bliss Mandala CAL!

This first part consists of 10 rounds. Each round is written out, and you’ll find the chart at the bottom of this blog.

Abbreviations

The pattern is written in US terms

sc = single crochet
ss = slip stitch
ch = chain stitch
dc = double crochet
fpdc = front post double crochet
ch-space = chain space

Notes

The * * indicate repeats. Repeat the instructions between the * *. The amount of repeats is indicated.

If your work starts to curl a bit, don’t worry. This will disappear when you attach the mandala to the hoop!

Written instructions

ROUND 1

Make a magic ring and work 10sc into it. Click here for a tutorial on how to make a magic ring. It’s in Dutch, but has English subtitles.
Close the round with 1ss in the first sc at the start of the round.
Fasten off the loose end.

ROUND 2

ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in current stitch.
*2dc in next sc*.
Repeat from * to * until you return at the start of the round. You’ve made 20 dc in total.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.



ROUND 3

ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in current stitch, 1fpdc.
*2dc in next dc, 1fpdc*.
Repeat from
* to * until you return at the start of the round. You’ve made 20 dc and 10 fpdc in total.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.

ROUND 4

ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc in next dc, 1fpdc.
*1dc, 2dc in next dc, 1fpdc*.
Repeat from * to * until you return at the start of the round. You’ve made 30 dc and 10 fpdc in total.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.



ROUND 5

ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in current stitch, 2dc, 1fpdc.
*2dc in next dc, 2dc, 1fpdc*.
Repeat from * to * until you return at the start of the round. You’ve made 40 dc and 10 fpdc in total.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.

ROUND 6

ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc, 2dc in next dc, 1fpdc.
*3dc, 2dc in next dc, 1fpdc*.
Repeat from * to * until you return at the start of the round. You’ve made 50 dc and 10 fpdc in total.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.

ROUND 7

ch8 (counts as 1dc and ch5), skip 3 dc, 1dc, 1fpdc.
*1dc, ch5, skip 3 dc, 1dc, 1fpdc*.
Repeat from * to * until you return at the start of the round.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.



ROUND 8

ch3 (counts as 1 dc), 1dc in current stitch, ch4, 2dc in next dc, 1fpdc.
*2dc in next dc, ch4, 2dc in next dc, 1fpdc*.
Herhaal vanaf * tot * tot je weer bij het begin van de toer bent.
Sluit de toer met 1hv in de 3e l aan het begin van de toer.

ROUND 9

ch3 (counts as 1 dc), 2dc in next dc, ch3, 2dc in next dc, 1dc, 1fpdc.
*1dc, 2dc in next dc, ch3, 2dc in next dc, 1dc, 1fpdc*.
Repeat from * to * until you return at the start of the round.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.



ROUND 10

ch3 (counts as 1 dc), 1dc, 2dc in next dc, ch2, 2dc in next dc, 2dc, 1fpdc.
*2dc, 2dc in next dc, ch2, 2dc in next dc, 2dc, 1fpdc*.
Repeat from * to * until you return at the start of the round.
Close the round with 1ss in the 3rd ch at the start of the round.
